How to Create a Woodland Rustic Christmas Tree

A woodland rustic Christmas tree brings the calming beauty of the forest into your home, creating a warm and inviting centerpiece for the holiday season! With earthy colors, natural textures, and cozy lights, your tree will make every guest feel like they’re stepping into a winter woodland retreat. This style combines earthy elements, warm textures, and a touch of natural magic. Perfect for adding a cozy, nostalgic feel to your home, this theme is ideal for those who love the outdoors or just want a tree that feels grounded and inviting!

Choosing a Color Palette

When beginning to decorate, go for muted colors…earthy greens, deep browns, and warm neutrals. Add pops of cranberry or gold with garland like this one! This palette echoes the beauty of the forest and makes it easy to incorporate natural materials. Consider different shades of brown and tan to mimic wood tones, and add white or frosty elements for a winter wonderland twist.

Artificial pine branches are perfect for filling in a tree or bringing elements of your tree to the rest of your house! For example, we used this pine garland to expand the rustic, woodland theme to our fireplace mantle.

Bows

Bows are a trendy way to bring a touch of softness and luxury to your woodland rustic tree! Tuck velvet bows throughout the tree to add warmth and texture, or use smaller bows as accents near ornaments or garlands. To add dimension, we also added medium sized olive green bows. The soft sheen of velvet adds a cozy, rich layer to the tree.

Rustic Christmas Decorations

Ornaments are a natural way to emphasize the theme of your tree! We love how these little bell ornaments look like acorns. Add burlap or twine accents to ground the theme while mixing in accents with gold ornaments! We found a set of woodland themed ornaments that have pinecones, orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and more – these provided the perfect contrast to the pops of gold!

Under the Tree

The space beneath your tree is the perfect spot to continue the rustic woodland vibe. Start by arranging a small pile of faux logs or birch branches for a natural touch! Choose a burlap or wooden tree skirt to continue the woodland theme with added texture.

More Woodland Rustic Christmas Decor

We expanded the rustic woodland theme throughout the living room with more decor! These themed pillows added a cozy touch, while the gingerbread snowflake pillows were a trendy twist, while still sticking with a neutral color palette. These gold trees brought the gold ornaments out from the tree! These stockings matched the colors perfectly while adding a soft touch. We hung large, gold bells on the mantle for a rustic farmhouse vibe.
